Karlstejn castle
Visit the majestic gothic castle of Karlstejn, built 650 years ago in a beautiful location surrounded by forest near the river Berounka. For many visitors it is one of the most memorable trips out of Prague. It served to protect the imperial crown jewels and documents and for celebrations of the royal and imperial majesty, its importance should also increase the collection of valuable relics. The most valuable in the castle is the chapel of St.Cross in the Great Tower – its walls are covered by gemstones and gold-plated dome represents the sky. Open to the public are spaces of Imperial Palace, the Great and the Marian Tower, Well Tower with 80 m deep well. Below the castle is the Museum of Bethlehem and the Wax Museum. It served to protect the imperial crown jewels and documents and for celebrations of the royal and imperial majesty, its importance should also increase the collection of valuable relics.
